Kudpung is the name of a village in Isan, Northeastern Thailand. It is also a sub-district (tambon) of the district of Suwannakuha, in the province of Nong Bua Lamphu. It also the home of this contributor to the Wikipedia, a retired British academic who was born in Malvern, Worcestershire, England.

He is the elder of the two sons of a scientist of the Royal Radar Establishment. He left England in his early 20s after taking a first degree in Business Studies to settle in Germany where he spent six years in Lower Saxony, followed by a further nine years in what was then West Berlin where he was an active musician and studied Linguistics and Communication Science.

In 1988 he moved to the region of Avignon in the south of France where he taught English, German, trained teachers, and developed media communications for the wine trade (Rhône wine) (documentary movies, web sites, marketing campaigns). He owns a small vinyard in the Lirac AOC.

In early 2000 he settled in Bangkok, Thailand where he lectured linguistics and and trained teachers in a leading public university. He was later director of a teacher training facility for the country's largest group of non-government schools.

His daughter by a previous marriage is Professor of Robotics at the University of Orleans, France.
