Kuchibiru Tameiki Sakurairo (くちびるためいきさくらいろ? lit. Lips, Sigh, Cherry Blossom-color, translated by the author as Kiss, sigh and cherryblossoms pink.――――the material of love.) is a Japanese yuri manga anthology collection of seven one-shots by the manga author Milk Morinaga. The first five chapters were originally serialized in the now-defunct yuri manga magazine Yuri Shimai between June 28, 2003 and November 17, 2004, published by Sun Magazine. When Yuri Shimai was discontinued, the last two chapters were serialized in the magazine's successor Comic Yuri Hime between July 18, 2005 and October 18, 2005, published by Ichijinsha. The chapters were later collected into a single bound volume which went on sale on January 18, 2006. The chapters are unrelated except for taking place at two affiliated all-girl schools, though characters reappear in several of the stories.

[edit] Even if We're Not Friends.

Nana and Hitomi have been friends ever since grade school and have been in the same class in school for just as long. When it comes time to graduate from junior high school, Hitomi coaxes Nana to take the entrance exam for Sakuraki high school due to the sailor-style uniform, but Hitomi does not make it into the same school. Nana and Hitomi separate and do not communicate for two months after graduating from junior high school. Nana still thinks about Hitomi everyday and reminisces about the past with her. One day, Nana bumps into Hitomi with a friend and Nana sees that Hitomi has cut her hair and that she joined her school's basketball team. After some small talk, Hitomi tells her friend that she had made plans with Nana today and Hitomi and Nana go back to Nana's house. While there, the two reconcile about the past and become closer than they have ever been before as they cross from being merely friends into being lovers.

The story's main character is Natsuka Katō, a ghost who still resides in the high school she attended before she transferred to another school and later died. She enjoys spending time in the school's infirmary because in life she had fallen in love with a girl named Komatsu who later became the school nurse of the high school she attended. During summer vacation, a basketball invitational is going on, and one of the players named Ide comes to the infirmary for some cold compresses, but while there she gets possessed by Natsuka. During this time, Natsuka spends time with Komatsu until she realizes that Natsuka has possessed Ide. At that time, Natsuka tells Komatsu that she was the person she loved most in the world and then disappears. Ide comes back to talk with Komatsu the next day and reveals that she may be lovesick for her, though she does not know why as she cannot remember anything that happened during the time she was possessed by Natsuka.

[edit] A Kiss, Love, and a Prince

Narumi Abe and her upperclassman Tachibana are practicing for a play where Narumi plays the lead role as the princess, and Tachiba plays opposite her as the prince in the tale. While practicing, Tachibana ties Narumi's hands behind her to help her get more into character, and she starts reading her lines. They come to a part in the play where the prince kisses the princess, so Tachibana kisses her. Later, Tachibana recounts to her friends how after she untied Narumi's hands that she ran away crying; Narumi has been avoiding drama club activities for three days now. Tachibana's friends try to get her to apologize to Narumi and Tachibana overhears their conversation, saying that if Narumi does not come to practice, that they will have to find another person for her role. Tachibana leaps out saying she does not want that to happen and takes Narumi away where she confesses her love to Narumi, and Narumi forgives her for what she did. The days of the play, the two decide to go out together as a real couple.

Chisato Suzuki has known Mizuki for years now, though does not know her well. In her first year of high school, Chisato tried to help Mizuki out, who had a hickey on her neck, by offering to cover it up with a bandage, though Mizuki did not want her help. Two years later in their third year, Chisato has been dreaming of Mizuki at night, and during this time contracts a fever. She stays home to get better, and Mizuki comes to visit her and she apologizes for not accepting Chisato's help two years previous. While talking about the hickey, Mizuki reveals she is seeing someone. The next day, Chisato rests in the school's infirmary since she is still sick and while in bed, she tells who she thinks is the nurse that she does not want to fall truly in love since it would be more painful than what she is going through right now with her attraction towards Mizuki. It was really Mizuki who had listened to Chisato, and she tells Chisato that one day she will experience a wonderful love.

[edit] Cherries for Your Lips

Chiharu and Eri have known each other for years. Back in junior high school, Eri played the flute and was with the school band, but then she injured her left arm and could not play anymore. Afterwards, Eri and Chiharu started to hang out more together, and Eri discovered her hidden talent for making sweets. Chiharu has been in love with Eri for years, but has never told her because she did not want to push her feelings on to her good friend. When Chiharu starts to feel down due to her unrequited love, Eri picks up on it and tries to cheer her up by bringing her over to her house to bake a cake. While there, Eri pulls out her flute and plays a tune for Chiharu which serves to cheer her up more than before. After the cake is finished, Chiharu plans to finally talk to Eri about her feelings for her.

This story is a continuation of the first chapter "Even if We're Not Friends". It is now time for midterms, and during this time Nana has not bothered Hitomi either. However, due to their separation, Nana starts having dreams about taking her relationship with Hitomi up a notch which causes her to lose sleep and in turn do bad on her midterms. Since they became lovers, they have not done anything beyond merely kiss, so Nana starts to wonder about Hitomi's previous words about wanting to touch her. Nana is also insecure about being paired with Hitomi who she sees as very stunning, but sees herself as rather plain. After Nana's make up tests, Hitomi goes to visit her in the middle of the night. After some talking, Nana realizes that she is truly in love with Hitomi and that the feeling is mutual between them. That night they decide to finally take their relationship to the next level.

Nosaka is a member of the literature club, and she writes short romance stories for the school's literary magazine. A girl named Michiru Endō starts reading Nosaka's stories and over time ends up falling for her. She joins in the literature club, and one day confesses her love to Nosaka and asks her to go out with her. Nosaka does not turn her down completely, but suggests they should be friends first and get to know each other. The two start hanging out more and going out together on weekends, and one night Michiru pushes heself onto Nosaka, managing to kiss her, though Nosaka slaps her for it right after. The next day, Michiru comes to school with her hair cut very short, and proceeds to tell Nosaka in front of her friend how long she has had an eye out for her. Michiru says she wants to continue to be close to Nosaka until she comes to return her feelings.

Kuchibiru Tameiki Sakurairo is a collection of seven one-shot manga chapters by the manga author Milk Morinaga. The first chapter was originally serialized in the Japanese shōjo yuri manga anthology magazine Yuri Shimai on June 28, 2003, published by Sun Magazine. Serialization continued in the magazine until chapter five on November 17, 2004, which was the last published issue of Yuri Shimai. The publication of new chapters was halted until July 18, 2005 when the sixth chapter was published in Yuri Shimai's successor Comic Yuri Hime, published by Ichijinsha. The seventh and final chapter was published on October 18, 2005. The chapters were later collected into a single bound volume which went on sale on January 18, 2006. The chapters are listed below in the order they appeared in the collected volume, but this was not the order in which the chapters were originally published. The original order was: "Even if We're Not Friends.", "A Kiss, Love, and a Prince", "This Love from I Can't Remember When.", "The Summer Closest to Heaven.", "Real Love.", "Cherries for Your Lips", and "If I Kiss Her Ring Finger".
