Logos in userboxes

Translations

Hello and first off, thanks for working on WP:PNT. Can I ask though if you are using a CAT program to translate the pages? -Yupik (talk) 19:58, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

No, I only sometimes use Computer-Assisted translation programs. Normally I translate as I know this language (I didn't include some of languages I speak to my Babel list). Kubek15 (Sign!) (Contribs) (UBX) 09:42, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
Ok. Just to let you know though, CAT programs should not be used to translate wikipedia articles at all. If you come across an article that you do not reasonably understand the language for, put it up on WP:PNT (along with the language, if you know which one it is) and an editor who knows that language will come along and deal with it as quite a few of the people who end up at WP:PNT are polyglottal to the extreme. Rather OT: what language pair(s) do you translate for work? It's always nice to meet other translators :) -Yupik (talk) 20:18, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

Mainly Finnish to English nowadays, but also Swedish to English, Northern Sámi to English, Spanish to English and Catalan to English. Depends a lot on the customer. Some day I wish I would be offered work translating into Finnish, too, but as I'm not a native Finnish speaker and I live in Finland, that's not likely to happen any time soon :D -Yupik (talk) 14:47, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
On Wikipedia though, I oftentimes translate into Finnish and of course Northern Sámi. I've also done a couple articles into Spanish and Italian, which was fun as I haven't translated into those languages for a couple of years now. -Yupik (talk) 14:48, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

Removal of PROD tags

Hi. Just to let you know that the removal of a PROD tag, even by the creator of an article, never constitutes vandalism. It merely means that there is some opposition to a proposed deletion and the process must be transferred to WP:AFD if the article is to be deleted. Userfication

I note your claim in the edit summary of this move that "normal users can't move to someone's sandbox without permission". Could you please point me to the bit of the rule book that lays down this rule. In any case I am an admin. But if I had seen a normal user doing this move, I would have accepted it as a sensible thing to do.

Transwikification to the Tamil wiki was the correct thing to do with the article, but since I am not familiar with the process, I simply userfied. Also, as I said in User talk:Thamizan, there was nothing preventing them from posting it to the Tamil wiki themselves. -- RHaworth (Talk | contribs) 14:27, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
