[edit] Background

From what is known as a single commercial entity to a group of 13 well-equipped centers located in all major towns in the country and more recently, to being accorded the status of university college, Kuala Lumpur Metropolitan University College (KLMU) previously known as Cosmopoint International University College which had made the impressionable start in the early 90's as Cosmopoint, has certainly “awakened the giant within” to be transformed into what it is today.

In the arena of education, Cosmopoint has survived the toughest of times and has emerged even steadier and stronger than what it might have been perceived as, back in its early days. Back then, just like any other startups, it had been “skillfully” adapting itself to managing challenging trouble-spots brought about by unprecedented technological advancements in IT, the lack of qualified trainers in the industry and other industry-centered issues.

In 2006, KLMU was born. And the stake is now even higher for the university college as it has to raise its standards and to succeed at the highest level. As KLMU has a formidable background which is filled with innumerable reference points, experiences and resources to tap into, it is relishing what the future has in store.

Nevertheless, with much perseverance and fortitude, it gradually began to reel in positive changes as it started to register a string of successes. In providing much sought-after courses, the college became a name closely equated with individual and corporate training. Later on, this evolved into offering more advanced certificates and diplomas in graphic designing, creative multimedia, business, secretaryship and of course, ICT.

KLMU has certainly gone to great proportions to secure its rightful share of the local education “pie” and to be where it is today. The expectations are high as the public is becoming more and more discerning with their choices. To cater to the needs of the future, KLMU is constructing a new campus in Wangsa Maju which will cost about RM200 million to complete and will accommodate 8,000 students at any one time, 15% of which will be foreign students.

The campus will also comfortably receive 3,000 students as residents for its hotel-styled condominiums. Once the dust has settled, KLMU will expectedly go about its business in placing all the building blocks for it to replicate the kind of successes it has had all this while – the commitment will be unwavering as the university college is distinctly aware it is within a striking distance to achieving all its goals, missions and visions.

[edit] Facilities

Currently, KLMU is strategically located within the business, shopping and commercial district of Kuala Lumpur. Specifically, it is situated next to the junction of Jalan Raja Laut and Jalan Sultan Ismail. Within walking distance are some of the most prominent office buildings, shopping complexes, hotels, restaurants, and so on.

One of the most apparent advantages the campus has over the other institutions is that it is well-serviced by the public transport system. The building's front is coincidentally a bus-stop point for several bus companies in the city while the Light Railway Transport system is only about several blocks (150 meters) away.

Students at KLMU are exposed to a unique and multi-cultural environment at the campus and integrating with its surroundings will prepare the student for real-life working and social situations. This will be especially beneficial when he or she is emplaced with an organization or company for practical training and eventually, in his or her actual employment upon graduation.

Our campus comprises two building blocks, and the main facilities are consistently upgraded according to the needs of the market or the developments in the industries they are related to.
