[edit] History

KTVA is Alaska's first TV station, having signed on the air on December 11, 1953. The station also carried a few NBC programs in the late 1960s, until KHAR-TV (Now KIMO) took the NBC affiliation in 1970. The station was also a DuMont affiliate in the 1950s [1]. KTVA even carried Sesame Street from 1970 until KAKM signed on in May of 1975.
