[edit] Ethnobotany of Wisconsin Indians series
There is a series authored by Huron H Smith nearly 80 years ago called Ethobotany of Wisconsin Indians series. The volume covering Menomini and Potawatomi are available on-line. Distributed Publishers is currenly working on getting Ojibwa available on-line. There is also one for the HoChunk and one for the Sac & Fox, but I haven't seen them made electronically yet.
Similary in Minnesota, Francis Densmore who collected Dakota and Ojibwa songs have also collected and published ethnobotany information as well. That's all.

[edit] Michael Tierra
Hi. I deleted it because the subject of the article did not meed the notability guidelines - only two sites mentioning him is not enough to assert notability. So, if you are interested in developing the article (with proper references to satisfy notability criterion - noting the popularity of AHG, and his two books, plus showing that the term Planetary Herbology is in widespread use would be a good start), I would say userify the article, i.e., move it from the article namespace into the user namespace (specifically a subpage of your userpage). I am creating the subpage for you to work on - User:Ksvaughan2/Michael Tierra. Develop it here, taking your time. Once fully baked, move it to the proper article name. :) Oh, the category list is commented, uncomment it after moving. Regards, and all the best with the article. --soum (0_o) 03:32, 16 April 2007 (UTC)
- Oh, and when the article is moved, just let me know if you want the temporary sub-page deleted. :) Regards, --soum (0_o) 03:33, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Shingles
Karen I dont know whether you are aware of it but your edits to the shingles article have been reverted by a sly old fox er fish!, in a process of 'slow war' fround upon by Wiki. I am currently outnumbered in a process engineered by same sly old fish! and could use some moral support to reinstate yours and my edits, its a numbers game. If you are still interested, If you read German I could also use your assistance to check a German paper on the use of enzymes in shingles the paper is PMID 7713467 which has an english abstract but no details on the type of trial. There is an English small reveiw of the trial in PMID 16813460 with some details, but the fish keeps reverting it. What I need is someone to confirm the type of trial ie multicenter large scale randomized controlled etc and be prepared to say so in the discussion page when I post the Complementary Therapies section agaain. In the meantime I am looking closely at his referencing and invite you to join in!Jagra 00:43, 22 June 2007 (UTC)
Do you have anything on the use of The botanical Glycyrrhizia glabra in shingles as either a topical or otherwise?.I have lots other evidence on it in other conditions but little in shingles? we might put together enough evidence if you can find.Jagra 07:40, 22 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Herpes zoster
Regarding your comments here, you would be wise to review WP:VANDAL which describes what is vandalism. To quote, "any good faith effort to improve the encyclopedia is not vandalism." Further, accusing someone of being a vandal can be considered a personal attack, and you would be well advised to not continue. With regards to the article, you and Jagra have not employed reliable sources and have promoted fringe theories which lack peer-reviewed sources. In addition, we cannot give undue weight to untested or unsourced information in a scientific or medical article. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to drop me a line on my talk page. [edit] International Herb Symposium
A {{prod}} template has been added to the article International Herb Symposium, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached.
I really think there is some doubt whether all such series are notable; if you think this one is, please add some 3rd party citations to show it.

[edit] Re Things that still need to be done to herbalize Wikipedia (by anyone who knows what they are doing)
Wikipedia is not a soapbox. If you are here with an agenda, it will be very hard to extend WP:AGF to any of your edits. •Jim62sch• 15:46, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
- Having a project, formal or informal, does not constitute a soapbox, Jim. There are lots of pages filled by amateurs who use secondary sources and poor information. Filling in an area that suffers from lack of information, or correcting misinformation IS a legitimate Wikipedia activity. KSVaughan2 22:48, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Subhuti Dharmananda
A tag has been placed on Subhuti Dharmananda, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.
If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}}
on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. — Coren (talk) 06:09, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
- Not advertising. I don't even know the guy but he is important to the history of modern herbalism in America. KSVaughan2 22:50, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Categories on user page
You shouldn't have Category:Herbalists on your user page. It's a category for article space only. Categories for Wikipedians have "Wikipedian" in their title. Not sure whether either Category:Wikipedian herbalists exists or not, but it would be the category which should be used... GlassFET 19:33, 27 September 2007 (UTC)
- If you just want to indicate your interest in the category, mention that you watch this category, but put a full colon between the opening left brackets [[ and the name of the category, thusly: [[:Category:Herbalists]]
and it will display thus:
- As GlassFET says, there is currently no Category:Wikipedian herbalists for you to sort yourself into; but you could create one. --Orange Mike 17:17, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] There's CONSORTs, and then there's CONSORTs
The current link on your user page does not link where I suspect you want it to. Take a look at consort for your options; notice the redlink there now. --Orange Mike 20:01, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

The newsletter is back! Many things have gone on during the past few months, but many things have not. While the assessment drive helped revitalize the assessment department of the project, many other departments have received no attention. Most notably: peer review and our "workgroups". A day long IRC meeting has been planned for October 13th, with the major focus being which areas of the project are "dead", what should our goals be as a project, and how to "revive" the dead areas of our project. Contribute to the discussion on the the new channel (see below) We decided to deliver this newsletter to all project members this month but only those with their names down here will get it delivered in the future. This is your newsletter and you can be involved in the creation of the next issue. Any and all contributions are welcome. Simply let yourself be known to any of the undersigned or post news on the next issue's talk page
Lastly, a new WikiProject Biography channel has been set up on the freenode network: Our thanks to Phoenix 15 for setting it up.

[edit] Category:Herbalists
Sorry, I didn't look into it as it was your user page. If I hit edit, I might have been tempted to change it. The way to refer to a category in text is to add a colon before the word category, so [[:Category:Herbalists]] will show up as Category:Herbalists in text. If the colon is not included, then you will see nothing where you thought you were including the category and the page will show up in the category. Hope this helps. Sorry to take so long to reply, but I only get a chance to edit once or twice a week. GlassFET 15:56, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] WikiProject Alternative Medicine
You have listed yourself as a participant of this project. The project has had a minimum of activity. Hopefully this can be changed. I am posting this notice on the user talk pages of those participants that are still active Wikipedians. If you are still interested in getting the project into gear, make yourself heard on the project talk page! Cheers! __meco 09:37, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Alteratives
A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Alteratives, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}}
to the top of Alteratives. MastCell Talk 19:05, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
- By your request, I have posted the deleted article to a sub-page of your user space, User:Ksvaughan2/Alteratives. Please be aware that if you recreate the article without substantial changes, it will probably get speedily deleted as recreation of deleted material. --Aqwis (talk – contributions) 19:47, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] AfD nomination of Herbal Administration
An editor has nominated Herbal Administration, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").
Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Herbal Administration and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 23:15, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
