[edit] History
KSLG-FM launched on May 1, 2001, three years after Lost Coast Communications secured the license from the FCC. Lost Coast Communications paid another radio operator, Eureka Broadcasting, $70,000 to withdraw a bid for the 94.1 Frequency, then had to secure investors to begin operating.
[edit] Personalities - Past and Present
In the beginning, KSLG-FM had only two DJs, John Matthews, a veteran of KPFK in Los Angeles, and Joe Butterworth who uses the on-air personality of "Dr. Syd Reagan III, bastard son of ninety-nine Republicans".
To fill the remaining time, KSLG-FM was computer automated using MP3s rather than CDs. This allowed the station to program large amounts of airtime via computer without the need for live DJs. KSLG-FM has since added other DJs, but Matthews and "Reagan" still man the weekday morning and afternoon slots, respectively.
Middays are hosted by Jen Savage, and Plastic Jackson hosts the evening show "Happy Endings." Slug Festivities Guide host Monica presents a weekend show from 10 AM to 3 PM on Saturdays.
