[edit] Athletics

They offer a range of sports such as Tennis, Golf, Cross Country, Track, Softball, Baseball and Basketball. Basketball is by far the school's strongest program; the boys' team are perennial state title contenders. The team has won state championships in basketball in 1971, 1978, 1994( Krum defeated two-time defending state champions Troup 56-45 to become the first and only team in Bobcat history to go undefeated with a 37-0 record for the 1993-94 season.) 1996 (53-39 over East Chambers High School) and 1998 (64-52 vs. Little River-Academy High School).[1][2] The team's five titles give it a share of the University Interscholastic League record for most Texas state championships won by a team in Conference 2A.[3] The team was the top-ranked school statewide in 1996, 1997 and 1998.[4]

Boys basketball team member Chuck Hall set the Texas state boys basketball scoring record in 1979 with 3,550 points, on 1,456 two-point field goals and 638 foul shots in his 180-game career that preceded introduction of the three-pointer.[5]

Although the girls' Varsity Basketball team has gone to State,They lost to the state champion team Nazerath in 1982/ in the first game at the tournament. the girls team of 2007-2008 team has made Krum History by being the first girls team to be ranked #1 by Texas Association Basketball Coaches Association.

In Texas girls cross-country running tournament history, runner Cordie Thomas had a photo-finish time of 11:20, breaking the then-state record by 22 seconds in the 3-mile (5K) event.[6] The girls cross country team won the state team championship in 2001 and 2002. The boys took the title in 2003 (Class 2A).[7]

Unusual for high schools in high-school football crazy Texas, Krum does not participate in football. In 2006, Krum ISD voters defeated by a 53-vote margin a $6 million bond issue that would have added a football stadium to the school and football as an extracurricular activity for the first time since 1922.[8]

In November 2007, voters passed a $7.5 million bond package to add facilities for football and girl's volleyball. The district is seeking to offer these sports in the 2008-09 school year..[9]

[edit] Academics

The high school excels in UIL academic competitions, with six individuals advancing to the state meet in 2007, resulting in the state champion Headline Writing contestant Collin Duwe.
