"The two stations broadcasted identical programing through 1978, when the AM station was sold." This is not possible, and needs to be clarified. The FCC did not permit AM and FM stations to simulcast the full day from 1964 till the autumn of 1981. The two KROQ's could have only simulcast 12 hours a day between 1973 and 1978, not "identical programing" 24/7.

I don't understand why this is a redirect from Tazy Phillipz?

Somebody added the following list.

[edit] Bands

I don't see what relevance it has, so I've removed it. --Camembert

I removed this:

KROQ sells stuff like calenders, binders, notebooks, clothing, or bumper stickers.

because I do not see its relevance to an encyclopedia article, plus it makes it look like we are plugging a business, Slrubenstein

Why is this article encyclopedic? KROQ is world-famous (or so the station reminds us that it is), but I do not see why one radio station needs an article in the Wikipedia. The congolmerate which owns the station doesn't have an article yet. --Two Halves

Well, it's encyclopaedic inasmuch as it is factual and neutral. A paper encyclopaedia wouldn't have this entry because of space constraints, but we have no such problems, so I don't see why we shouldn't have it. --Camembert
Please, stop erasing the List of KROQ events, Camembert. And I mean it. Don't erase it again. I like it when it's there. -- Michael
Michael, Camembert is just enforcing what the Wikipedia community decided a long time ago. Argue for its inclusion by stating what purpose it would serve in the Wikipedia, its intended audience, and that it presents neutral information in the most efficient manner possible. Don't blame Cam because you're not able to back up your positions. If he didn't delete it, I would, and if I didn't, someone else would. Tuf-Kat
I take credit for the most recent version. -- Zoe

I'd like to take credit for deleting it, but I can't - 'twas User:Salsa Shark. I would have deleted it if nobody else had, however. --Camembert

No big thing, but I'm curious to know why the Rodney was made not to be a link anymore? Isn't that sort of the general idea of this thing, to encourage page creation? --Sjfloat 18:01 10 Jul 2003 (UTC)

[edit] Personalities

Is there a reason why Big Tad Newcomb isn't on the list of past personalities? He was an integral part of the Kevin and Bean show in the late 90's. I would estimate that he worked with the station from about 1996-1999, but I'm not positive. Most notable involvement includes (attempted) red carpet interviews with Jenna Elfman and his hospitalization following the "Live In It and Win" Volkswagen Beetle competition. _

I would say just add him. I just added Kennedy when I noticed she was missing.RevAladdinSane 21:00, 2 May 2006 (UTC)

I added Mark Silverman, he was a significant part of the Richard & Poorman morning show... He received media attention for impersonating Sony Bono in a mock interview when he was running for Mayor for Palms Springs. The real Sony Bono was just happening to be listening to the station at the time and called to complain.

He also called the Larry King disguised as Sylvester Stallone when King was interviewing Sly's mother, Jackie Stallone, and fooled them both. The interview was replayed on the Howard Stern Show.

[edit] Delete personalities or clean up?

Many of these have blank wiki links. Quite a few link to the wrong people (rock stars and one is a British rugby player). And most of these people are not notable in the least (do we really care about someone who worked weekends back in the 1980s when they've done nothing significant since?) I know a few of these people have gone on to bigger and better things, or are legends in local radio. Perhaps we should whittle this list down to the significant people that have worked here, and clean this mess up a little? If nobody responds, I'll go ahead and trim the fat.

I also think "KROQ-related albums" should be it's own article, or we could find a way to put it in here, to eliminate some of the clutter on the main page.

Richard Blade's Flashback Favorites Vol. 1-6 should be added to this list. Freddiefreelance 22:12, 3 October 2007 (UTC)

On a side note, I've been collecting and gathering various logo images throughout the years, and once I figure out a way to put it on the page without crowding it up, I'll add them. --Fightingirish 16:01, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Sticker timeline

I swapped the images #5 and 6 for the stickers. I distinctly remember #6 being the first one I ever got, and had many of #5 later on.... Fubaz 01:35, 7 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Removal of Blatant Bias

I just had to remove this biased statement that was on the page prior to the mention of the HD multicast stations:

  • "Today's KROQ has sold out to the music industry. They play the worst music of all time. Hopefully, someone will put them out of their misery."

Hopefully this person won't repeat their statement--70.21.236.85 02:58, 9 November 2006 (UTC)

On the other hand, there should be mention of how back in the day, the DJ's used to have one free choice of song an hour (hence all those playings of Back Stabbers and "San-Fernando Valley" by Bing Crosby), but that was eliminated. AnonMoos 21:08, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

I don't fault you for the removal, but it's basically true. Anyone with training or skills of a diplomat that can basically say how much KROQ sucks (compared to the glory years), but do it NPOV? 216.175.111.66 06:21, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
