[edit] Bio

Kroda was formed in 2003 by two members, living in different Ukrainian towns, Eisenslav from Dnipropetrovsk and Viterzgir from Lviv. Their lyrics touch the themes of nature, paganism, and history. For this reason, some tag Kroda's music as pagan folk black metal. It is well-known that the members of the band are involved in far right-wing political circles, and it can be seen in some of the bands lyrics, especially on the first two albums.

On the 14th of February, 2005, they published their first release, Cry to Me, River..., on Stellar Winter Records (Russia) and Rarog Production (Ukraine). This was then followed by a split-album with the Russian band, Oprich, called Legend (Poppyflowers Are Blossoming), on the 26th of April of the same year. Three months later on the 20th of July, they released their second full-length, Towards the Firmaments Verge of Life.... This was followed by another split, this time with Russian band Velimor, entitled By a Hammer of Spirit and Identity of Blood. Fimbulvinter, the band's third full-length, was released in 2007.

The band, initially planned to be studio-only project, performed live at few shows, including pagan metal festivals "Svarogove Kolo" (18/8/2007) in Sevastopol and "Kolovorot" (22/12/2007) in Kharkiv, with members of Ukranian blackened death metal band Ruina (in which Viterzgir plays guitar and sings) augmenting the band's two members on second guitar, bass, and drums. In 2007 the band contributed to the Slavic Burzum Tribute "Lost Freedom" with the track "Jesus' Tod" with Ukrainian lyrics.

Viterzgir writes all music for Kroda, except covers of other band's songs. Eisenslav writes biggest part of Kroda's lyrics, but sometimes the verses of different Ukrainian poets are used in their music.

Both of band's members take part in some other musical projects, usually using the different pseudonyms.
