[edit] Wrestling

There is real wrestling, where it is an athletic contest. That is seen in high schools and colleges and in the olympics. Then there is TV wrestling, wherein performers pretend to be beating each other up. It is a fine entertainment, and has been a staple of TV since the 1940's. Do you seriously believe that the drama is all for real? That the wrestlers in most TV wrestling entertainment are not told ahead of time who will win? This is not to say anything against their being athletes, and I acknowledge that people sometimes get hurt, but the drama looks fake. That said, I will refrain from mentioning my views about its fakeness in AFDs, just as I would not tell kids that Santa isn't real. Edison 15:47, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

I revised my AFDs to strike out "fake." I watched TV wrestling a lot decades ago, and there was always a wrestler pulling some stunt like throwing some mysterious substance in his opponents eyes to "blind " him, or the manager climbing into the ring to whack a combatant over the head. There was lots of fake blood. There was always a get even grudge match. There were exotic costumes and personnas. The thing they have going now is a way bigger budget and more sponsorship, not to mention the spinoff merchandise. I agree it is a fine piece of entertainment. Edison 21:53, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Full Impact Pro

Well, judging from the previous version of the article, it looks like the page was prodded first as a "Non notable wrestling promotion, no third party sources, fails WP:CORP" and then deleted five days later per policy. From what I see, there aren't many sources to use for this type of article, and it seems to fail WP:CORP. Many of the Google hits I find just make a brief mention of Full Impact Pro, and I got only 20,000 case-sensitive Google hits. If you can show me other 3rd-party sources that describe the history of the wrestling circuit and other such info, that would be appreciated. For now, I believe the deletion should stand, but if you show me otherwise, I will restore the article. Thanks, Nishkid64 01:26, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Changing sources (help desk question)

Usually the person who added the source, checked it to check it backs up the fact it's mentioned with. It's usually not a good idea to change it. What do you need to do it for? - Mgm|(talk) 04:53, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

  • It's the title of the question that got me confused. Thanks for answering. - Mgm|(talk) 07:40, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Might need help

You said: "Hi Yamla, sorry to bother you, but I may need some assistance. I have been currently putting a lot of work to make the article Delirious (wrestler) into a good article, but for some reason member User:Lakes keeps removing one of the moves, Diving hurricanrana, just because he has never seen the said wrestler use it (the wrestler in question does not wrestle on television, so matches of him would be limited considering you could only view him on DVD). The point being, at some point in his career he used this as a signature move. Even if he doesn't currently, or if Lakes has never seen him use the move, that isn't a reason to keep removing it. I would appreciate if you could talk to Lakes about this."

All information in the Wikipedia must be verifiable (see WP:V). That does not mean you need to provide a web link, but you do need to cite information appropriately. If you have a DVD where he performs this move, you should be able to add a citation (see WP:CITE) for this DVD. Once you've done this, if the information is removed again, please let me know and I will be happy to help out! --Yamla 14:12, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
You said: "I do have a source stating he did this move though [1]. Is that enough for me to add it in?"
I could be wrong but I do not believe this meets the criteria outlined at WP:RS. --Yamla 16:18, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
You said: "I am curious, what do I need then? You asked for a cite, and I gave a link saying he has used the move as a signature move."
Please see WP:RS for the requirements for a reliable source. --Yamla 16:22, 6 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Bitchslap

I'm not reverting it! Everyone is reverting the page and the versions are getting mixed up. Please see history page. -- bulletproof 3:16 03:22, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

Good god... WWE.com has a full page pic of the flaming limo with the headline screaming MCMAHON PRESUMED DEAD!!! You know, I bet this is WWE's way at getting back at Wikipedia for being IWC central. They're practically begging trolls to come and vandalize-- bulletproof 3:16 04:03, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Your message

You're right, I overlooked something. I apologize. Arienh4(Talk) 20:14, 15 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Chikara

I noticed that on several AfDs you've stated that Chikara is a notable independent wrestling federation. What makes you think it is notable? Looking at the article, I just don't see it. Did it have a television deal? Did it employ several very notable wresters (special appearances don't count)? Are there secondary or third party sources (without them it fails WP:CORP)? Their biggest crowd ever was 275 people. How is that notable? Nikki311 03:01, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

Maybe it is popular with the indy fans (that one show did get a record 275 people to attend!), but that doesn't mean it is notable. Moreover, none of those names you mentioned can be considered "very notable" either. Not every independent promotion and/or wrestler on the planet deserves an encyclopedia article. Nikki311 03:26, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

I just want you to understand that popular with indy fans does not equal notable. Nikki311 03:44, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Impersonator

Hi Kris Classic,

I might be very wrong (apologises if I am) but I think a IP address is trying to impersonate you, see here. He signs himself as being Kris classic. Just thought I'd let you know. Davnel03 20:51, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

Hey there! Your username is listed on the WikiProject Redwall participants list, but we are unsure as to which editors are still active on the project. Your name has therefore been moved to a "Potentially Active" list. From the Editor

Welcome to the inaugural edition of the WikiProject Professional wrestling newsletter! I hope this will be a good source of news to those people interested in what's happening around our pro wrestlimg community. I plan to release it every Sunday.

This newsletter will just be a way to get the community announcements to people who don't have the time to check the mesageboards, as well that to those just curious about the news. The newsleter will consist of a project news section (to do with what's happening on Wikipedia), and a current events section (relating to news in the "real world"). The newslette will also contain the Collaboration of the Week announcement.

That's all. If you have any feedback or suggestions, please post them at this talk page.

"Permission to use on Wikipedia" is not sufficient for us to use the image. We want free images, both for our use, and reusers including commercial use, for which the permission you obtained likely does not provide. This is WP:CSD#3 which can explain a little more. You should read WP:COPYREQ on how (and what) to request permission. Good luck! MECUtalk 20:05, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
