I see a reference to her winning a figure skating gold medal at the "Junior Olympics".The "Junior Olympics" name was adopted with USOC permission for the Juvenile and Intermediate national championships (established in 1991) of the U.S. Figure Skating Association in 1995,but Kristian Alfonso would have been 13 in the 1977-1978 skating season. This "Junior Olympics" medal has apparently been part of her official biography since 1998 (the first year I had this argument online) or before, but I don't know what she really won;the 1978 Junior Ladies champion of the USA was Jill Sawyer, and the Novice Ladies champion Michelle Schelske (the following year future world champions Elaine Zayak and Rosalynn Sumners won these titles). It is possible that she was a "gold medalist" in the USFSA definition of passing the eighth figure or senior free skating test, but that isn't a competition victory. The embellishment needs to be removed from the article, but we ought to find out just what she really won.--Louis Epstein/le@put.com/12.144.5.2 03:57, 30 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Top Google hit for "Junior Olympics" is presumably what she won[1]. Niteowlneils 21:55, 6 Apr 2005 (UTC)
