A native of Florence, Kentucky who later moved to Missouri, Capel won the Miss Missouri USA title in a state pageant held in late 2005. It was her first attempt at that title, however she had placed in the top fifteen of the Miss Kentucky USA pageant the year previously. As Miss Missouri USA Capel was a representative of the Vanbros organization.

Capel represented Missouri in the Miss USA 2006 pageant broadcast live from Baltimore, Maryland in April 2006. She did not place in the pageant, which was won by the delegate from her former home state, Tara Conner, Miss Kentucky USA.

Capel graduated from Heritage Academy (a parochial school affiliated with the Assemblies of God) in Kentucky in 2001. The Heritage Academy describes itself as a school "whose sole purpose is to establish and enlarge the Kingdom of God." The school adds two ancillary purposes to its mission statement, one of which is academic excellence. Intellectual pursuits, however, are to be tempered by an awareness that "the Bible is the inspired, inerrant Word of God." 2 She won a sports scholarship to Evangel University, a religious school affiliated with the Assemblies of God, where she completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Broadcasting and Public Relations with honors in 2005. She plans to continue her education with a Meteorology degree in order to become a meteorologist for a major network.

She was recently employed as a television reporter, co-anchor and weekend weather anchor on ABC affiliate KSPR Springfield 33 News. Capel also worked as a radio personality at 99 Hit FM and 1340 AM KADI during much of 2006.

Her interests include working out, scrapbooking, watching the National Football League, and shopping.

I grew up in Northern Kentucky graduating High School from Heritage Academy in 2001 and later moved to Missouri on a college volleyball scholarship to Evangel University earning a degree in Broadcasting,

While in college I interned in Cincinnati, Ohio at WCPO and my senior year in college I interned at KSPR News in Springfield, Missouri where I landed a Reporter job……

Shortly after they were in need for a weekend weather anchor so they trained me and that's when I fell in love with becoming a Meteorologist.

After graduating from college I won the title of "Miss Missouri USA 2006" and had a wonderful opportunity to represent Missouri at the 2006 Miss USA pageant….

And…. when I'm not at work I enjoy spending my free time shopping, working out, or watching football with my husband…

Now that you know a little bit about me… I am so excited to be in NorthEastern Pennsylvania and I look forward to help getting you and your family prepared for the day. Catch me weekdays on WBRE News from 5 to 7am, 11am and WYOU News at Noon!"
