Krissy Carlson was born on August 10, 1979, in Covina, California, U.S.. She was educated at St. Lucy's Priory High School, an all-girls' Catholic School in Glendora, Krissy grew up in La Verne, California, with her parents Jan and Robert and two older siblings, Jenny and Tim. After graduating from high school, Krissy studied at California State University in Northridge for a year. Early jobs includes working at a gym and being a lifeguard at Raging Waters.
In her sophomore high school year, Krissy was discovered by a talent scout and started modeling. While a student at Northridge, she was a cheerleader for their basketball team, and in 1997, she cheered for Anaheim Angels.
Krissy is also a model on the U.S. version of the game show Deal or No Deal. She holds case number 16.

In 1997, Krissy became interested in acting and started taking classes. It didn't take long before she had booked her first guest starring role on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and she followed it by doing guest spots on shows such as Pacific Palisades and Step by Step. In the end of the year, Krissy landed a role on the daytime drama Sunset Beach as Amy Nielsen. She was a recurring character during 1997, and then a few months later, she received a contract and stayed with the show to the end. She also appeared multiple times on MTV's series Undressed in the role of Renata. Carlson appeared in two episodes as Fancy Crane on the daytime drama Passions while actress Emily Harper was on a leave of absence due to a family crisis.
Krissy had also been in films such as Nowhere to Go (1998), Devil in the Flesh (1998) and Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon (2006). She was also on the reality show Meet My Folks with her parents, who chose a date for her from among 3 bachelors.

She was an XFL cheerleader during the football league's short run.
In her spare time, Carlson enjoys horseback riding, painting, hiking, dancing, snorkelling, surfing, and swimming.
