[edit] Hello!
Just hoping this is the proper place to let you know that I received your kind note. I am working on a page for Martie Maguire of the Dixie Chicks, and as you know, in her youth, she played with Sharon Gilchrist, so I am glad I didn't annoy you with my editing there. Let me know if you think any changes I make are ones you disagree with, and tell me of any ideas you have as well. Thanks, Leah DosSantos --leahtwosaints (talk) 04:44, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
- I never got a response from you. It may be best for you to also add to Sharon Gilchrist and other bands where she was a participant. At the time, I'm kind of flooded with seeking references (my low point) for the Dixie Chicks band page and their members' pages as well. Because Gilchrist and her brother Troy Gilchrist (why doesn't he have a page??) crossed paths with two of the contemporary Dixie Chicks band members in high school, I had a little input for your page, but otherwise, I'm not certain I can help too much. I'm willing to assist you when I can though!! --leahtwosaints (talk) 19:53, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Can you help with one more bluegrass musician?
Hey, sorry... when it rains, it pours, as we say. Looking for links, I found an orphaned article on Aubrey Haynie and though I am great at editing, I'm not the best at finding references. If you can take the time to see the page for him, and while you check references for Sharon Gilchrist, can you see if Anything (!!) in that page can be verified, referenced, linked, or whatever it's called? I don't know the original editor, but since it's in the same genre, I thought maybe you might notice something related to him- same age group, etc. Thanks! --leahtwosaints (talk) 02:20, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Jealous
I'm so Jealous that you have been adopted by another wiki editor. I'm new, too!! Often, I have questions- short ones, like, how and when do you link dates in wikipedia? Maybe you can ask some of this for me? Thanks. --leahtwosaints (talk) 22:28, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
Hi Leah,
you could be adopted, too. All you have to do, is explained on Wikipedia:Adopt-a-User. From there it goes very quick. Personally, I appreciate of course, that Thaurisil was so nice to adopt me, though I have never made any use of the adoption. As you probably know, I am mainly doing Uncle Earl related stuff. I have found it very helpful to go to very large band articles like ACDC or Led Zeppelin and see how the editors did it. They are using all sorts of features and this way, most of my questions are answered just by looking at the 'edit' page.

- Hey Brother "K"- I did get your email and am very impressed. You must be a scholar, correct? Because I had years of college dodging all the classes I could that required writing papers, because... I HATED looking for references! <grin!> So this is my self-teaching way of getting back into the groove of school, so I can go back for degrees, now that I'm older. It also helps to learn about using computers. I guess I did the same thing as you-- I went to "Barnstar" pages, and checked their editing to see if I did it right. (We both seem to do it properly, but you reference differently than the way I learned. I think your way is probably more acceptable, but if they are OK with my way, I can live with that!) I was surprised to find someone from the other side of the world interested in Americana bands. ??
-
- I found this tiny reference to Uncle Earl: [1] I don't think I'm going to pursue Troy Gilchrist. There are other Americana or roots music musicians like Patty Griffin, and what about Jo Serrapere who has no page, and the band she's playing with? Here's a great link; a lot of information on her: [2] I mean, she IS a founder of Uncle Earl...
- I don't know if I mentioned to you that there's a video of the Blue Night Express playing together at: [3] It's a multimedia extravaganza there, but go to Misc. and scroll way down, and you'll see the four students playing with a great view of Sharon Gilchrist playing mandolin with her brother and the Erwin sisters. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know this, and if you like after today, I'll email you the things you may want to know privately. OK? Thanks! --leahtwosaints (talk) 02:57, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Troy Gilchrist
Replying to your note on my talk page: unfortunately, I don't have any useful information beyond what's on my site. You might find some useful information at the dixiechicksfaq.com site, though. --Robertb-dc (talk) 22:35, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Hey Krautmaster
I'm so impressed with your accomplishments in English especially, I'm nearly speechless..
Please, I must not have received the email from you. Try my #1 email (the other is so full of Spam that it's nearly wasteful to keep it)-- here's the real one. Just should have left this here and am leery of this one getting as bad as the other one:
leah2saints@hotmail.com That WILL get my attention. Sorry. Hey, while I'm here... how did you get adopted? Wish somebody would do that for me! I'm SO jealous. Best Wishes, Leah --leahtwosaints (talk) 10:51, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Needing your help, Desperately!
Hi K! I'm sort of at an impasse as to how to proceed with the Martie Maguire article. As you can see, I wander off and add things to other pages when I feel like this <help!> I need feedback from you and any other editors whose work you respect. My questions are:
- Am I putting too much band information into this individual's page? (Keep in mind most of the band page (Dixie Chicks) is built all around a plagiarized stub that goes way back and as deep as the core of the page-- will need tearing down and then rebuilding, so some of the additional band data and references I'm keeping on Maguire's page is for a conscious reason in case they are needed for the band page.)
- Can you help tidy up the references- the way I have them listed, I'm afraid several refs are from Robert's Dixie Chicks timeline, so although from the same site, due to the year variation, they appear separate. And, are there obvious spelling or punctuation errors?
- I've been meaning to split the band page and make a separate page for Dixie Chick political controversy. I've left it to the last, but I am aware I must mention it on Maguire's page. I plan to put together something about it, with a redirect saying, "Please see Dixie Chicks political controversy", etc. I'm concerned about the FLOW of the page. Should I focus more or less on albums? Or should there be a section on tours? HOW CAN I GET SOMEONE WHO CAN HELP TO FIND USABLE, UPLOADABLE IMAGES OF MAGUIRE AND OR THE BAND IN PROGRESS? And, what about listing Discography and Awards? (I think both can be directed to the band page unless you think I am wrong.) Please, I need help doing this-- if you can help me get this up to specifications, I promise to slave away for you on any project, Uncle Earl or whatever you wish!! Please help- --leahtwosaints (talk) 04:20, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
