Possible Vandalism on Stephen Colbert page

Hi, I just wanted to say that the photo of Stephen was replaced with the Press Release photo from Comedy Central which is more appropriate than the one from Knox College and also has Creative Common licence. Thank you

I was not aware of that, I was trying to update the photo. Thank you.

It wasn't vandalism

See [1]. Thanks. --200.118.131.208 02:05, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

Hope this is the right place. Actually, by the way, its Buckshot6, not 207 etc etc that's trying to redraft the 12 Inf Bde history in accordance with your suggestions... redrafting the material. If I understand copyright correctly, I can write up the history , which is in the public arena, just as long as I draft it myself - and I should think that the UK government would probably agree with the Americans and say that it's in the public domain - it's a government site. Cheers Buckshot06.. I'll sign in now.

Having signed in, drop me a note if you wish... Cheers Buckshot06

Reverting edits on anarchism page

If you read the discussion page you'll see that the sections I removed are considered vandalism by the vast majority of the page's (all but the person who submitted them in the first place) editors and I was merely returning the article to how it was pre-vandalism. Thank you

Re. Reverting edits on anarchism page

No problem, sorry for the misunderstanding. Hopefully the vandal won't be back and people will find the article will be more informative and accurate with his edits removed. 81.79.139.53 10:32, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

Hi BBB!

Hi Baseball Baby,

Sorry, I wasn't trying to deface the page. I have just recently been turned on to the Wiki', and am still feeling her out. In my defense, I couldn't resist the temptation to add my too sense to what I thought was an unforgiveably innacurate opinion by Miss Stone.

I shall restrict my comments to the sandbox until I learn the rules proper.

Betcha can't tell me what the infield fly rule is, off the top of your head...gentleman's bet?

No cheatin'!

I did not vandalize the page. I might have put in information which you may not like, but that is not vandalism. You can't keep out the truth just because you don't like it. 75.3.11.87 03:30, 9 August 2006 (UTC)

My edit to Kepple Disney

My edit to Kepple Disney was not an experiment. There is a link on Elias Disney's page to his father, Kepple Disney, that actualy re-directs right back to the same page. Why should that not be fixed?

Jango Fett

I noticed that too, wondering to myself why they had made the article so short...I mean, surely Jango has some stuff in the Expanded Uni-...oh crap! As a matter of fact, I am using Mozilla Firefox with the Google Toolbar.

I tried to revert my edit too, but you beat me to it, and I added the image right after you. So it's all good. -Dark Kubrick 06:52, 9 August 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for the reverts to my talk and user pages. DVD+ R/W 01:46, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

Thanks also for such a lengthy reply. I like your username, have a look at my baseball pictures on my userpage, they are near the bottom. They are newer players and I was able to post them on their articles, J.J. Putz, José Celestino López, and Kenji Johjima. I am really proud of them, they are all Mariners, and I took them at a recent game with my camera rigged up to a pair of binoculars. DVD+ R/W 04:10, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

Santorum

Hi -- I wonder if you could help me understand the archived AfD votes for Santorum. I'm new to the AfD process, and it appears to me that the prior discussion on Talk:Santorum is for deletion. I'm not at all clear why the discussion is there -- is it copied from an AfD debate? Anything you could do to unconfuse me would be much appreciated. As it is I can't tell if User:Santorummm is acting in good faith or just ignoring the AfD decisions, though as far as I can tell it's the latter. Thanks. Mike Christie 04:06, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

Yow. That's truly confusing; thanks for the explanation. I'm the one who AfD'd this, and I was wondering if I'd screwed something up (I already messed up on something else already this evening). I will go read your explanation six times until I understand everything. Thanks again for the help! Mike Christie 04:47, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

Vandalism

Vandalism directed straight at you should be seen as a merit. Which is why we have vandalism counters. :)--Andeh 08:35, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

Would you like to be nominated for admin? Then I won't have to wait ages for vandals to be blocked at AIV. Gets boring after a while.--Andeh 08:49, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
Yeh, don't want to waste your time in RfA if there's any tiny reasons to oppose.--Andeh 09:52, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

IIM

I was really impressed by your post on the AfD page for IIM. Just thought I'd say thanks; so many people delete articles without a second thought and instead you dove right in to find the truth. Keep it up. --Daniel Olsen 05:01, 13 August 2006 (UTC)

  • ditto, I want to congratulate you on your thoroughness on the case. I thought I did a lot of work for it, but yours trumps mine by a long way. This was a very bitterly fought deletion, and plenty of lobbying and dirty tricks all round. Ohconfucius 14:51, 15 August 2006 (UTC) BTW, Thanks for pointing out the AfD on Julian Vereker. Rotten.com

Hi -- I see you've started removing some of the rotten.com links, per the village pump discussion. I was thinking of going after these too; to avoid clashing, I propose to start at the end. Just FYI so we don't waste time on the same one. Mike Christie 13:37, 14 August 2006 (UTC)

Stop removing the Rotten.com links. Jerkcity 21:10, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
FYI, I've left a note with Jerkcity asking for a reason not to remove the links. Mike Christie 23:06, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
. . . and got nothing substantive in response. I've posted a note back at the original discussion asking for more feedback before I start deleting any links; I can see where someone might see it as a personal attack to have their particular links removed, so I wanted to get another opinion.
Re IRC, no, I'm not on it -- I've been thinking about getting a client. Which client would you recommend? Mike Christie (talk) 10:24, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
I picked up mIRC and had an initial look; you're right, it's impressive to watch. Re rotten.com; I agree with all your comments. I have been busy mediating and fixing up my FAC tonight, but will start working through the list tomorrow, if I have time. If he vandalizes my user page, I'm sure I'll live. I agree his comments are quite extreme though. If you would prefer to leave this one alone, I completely understand; there's no call to subject yourself to that treatment. I don't mind giving it a shot -- I don't like uncivil behaviour that tries to shut down cooperation, and I have faith that WP policies and procedures will take care of any trouble that comes out of it. Mike Christie (talk) 03:12, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
Hi; I barely got on to IRC last night but have a little more time tonight. If you have a minute, I'd be glad if you could explain to me some of what I'm seeing. Thanks. Mike Christie (talk) 00:57, 18 August 2006 (UTC)
Hi again; I wonder if you could answer a quick question. I looked at some of those links you posted of Jerkcity (talk · contribs)'s edits. Do those warrant a note left at WP:ANI? Some of those are more than just incivil; they're intimidating, as you said. I'd appreciate your thoughts since you have a lot more experience than I do. If you agree, I'll post a note. Or should I ping an admin on IRC and ask them? Thanks. Mike Christie (talk) 02:04, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
I got feedback on #vandalism-en-wp from another editor that it was worth posting to ANI, so I did so. I mentioned that a woman editor found the edit summaries alarming, though I didn't mention your name; I hope that was an accurate statement. I don't know that it needs following up -- the only admin who's responded to date doesn't seem impressed. Anyway, just FYI. Mike Christie (talk) 04:57, 21 August 2006 (UTC)

I'm not sure if you saw this post (below). I tried to get back to you on the other page where you contacted me. I thought I had researched this and it seemed okay, but I apologize for missing what you pointed out to me. Anyway, I just wanted to get back to you to let you know I didn't mean to cause any harm. Sorry to create editing work for you. Thank you for clarifying the poicy for me. I won't make the same mistake again.

Paul Arnott and copyright problems

Hi -

I had to revert one of this user's new pages today for copyvio problems - he copied Karen Carpenter's bio straight from the Internet Movie Database. I saw the long string of copyvio warnings and the 24hr block you gave him on 8/14, so I thought I'd let you know he's at it again. I also put a note at ANI so he'd get widespread notice this time, 'cause he certainly seems determined. Let me know if you have questions - Baseball,Baby! ballsstrikes 21:20, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

Kpjas' RFA

Hey BaseballBaby! (Baseball is the only sport I follow, BTW... Go Diamondbacks!)

On Kpjas' RFA, you have voted neutral based on his apparent lack of experience, per Fabricationary, ("usertalk edits are quite low, and as Thatcher131 pointed out, your Wikipedia space edits aren't in administrative areas. I would gladly support you in a few months if you actively worked on those five items you listed above"). In fact, Kpjas is already an admin on the Polish Wikipedia, and has 37,000 edits there, including 2,600 to WP space over there. You have voted neutral based on inexperience in WP space, but these facts clearly indicate plenty of experience in the required areas. BB, you want an experienced editor for admin. Kpjas is clearly experienced. Without badgering you, I urge you to reconsider your vote in this particular RfA. Happy editing! :)--Firsfron of Ronchester 07:32, 21 August 2006 (UTC)

Indiana University disambig

Wilson Lee Flores article deletion

Thank you for contacting me regarding my creation of the article and its deletion. However, let me point out that my inclusion of this article conforms with Wikipedia standards and is therefore appropriate. My initial article on this may not have adequate and resourceful information, but this is in no way eligible for deletion. I did not have time to check and re-edit this article after other contributors have changed my original entry so I assumed that the facts contained still conforms to Wikipedia Standards. And then I found out that my article is being nominated for deletion! I am sorry for not contacting you immediately because I just had a WikiHoliday. But I assure you that the said Wilson Lee Flores is a recognized public figure in the Philippines- journalist, writer, businessman and social analyst. This is also attested by the number of edits by other wikipedians, and is even a target of vandalism and poor editing. Check it for yourself on the internet. I would be pleased for your reply, then I will do my best to reedit the article.

P.S. I noticed that someone has recreated this article but has produced a stub. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Kennethduncan (talkcontribs) 08:47, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

Long-Overdue RfA Thanks from Alphachimp

Thanks for your support in my not-so-recent RfA, which was successful with a an overwhelmingly flattering and deeply humbling total of 138/2/2 (putting me #10 on the RfA WP:100). I guess infinite monkey theorem is true. Chimps really can get somewhere on Wikipedia.

Michael Hertz

Thanks for the vote of confidence about my ability to write an article about Michael Hertz Associates, but I think the best thing for now would be for you to work on it, and perhaps for me to check it over at a later time. At the moment I am somewhat swamped by real-life events and happenings, and writing a complete article would take some time for me. On the other hand, if you wrote it, you could probably get it done sooner, and I could do an overview of the portion about the NYC subway.

And thanks for your vote on my RfA! Larry V (talk | contribs) 05:06, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

Would you be interested in being nominated for adminship? If so, I'd be happy to put together a nomination for you. I think you've been around long enough; Luna Santin's RfA seems to be going well despite a history of only three months. Let me know. Mike Christie (talk) 12:38, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

Well, having just read your response on Mike Christie's talk page, I'm left saying the old cliché: "You're not an admin?" Heimstern Läufer 03:55, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

You guys are very sweet, but no – I'm not an admin. I made contributions as an unregistered IP editor for several weeks/months writing parts of articles, but I didn't register until somewhere around June 15. I'm not "afraid" of an RfA failing due to inexperience, or insecure about my abilities, or some other reason. I _am_, however, one of those people who takes a good look at herself at regular intervals – periodic self-appraisal is something one learns in nursing school – and I know that I'm not ready to receive a mop yet. I'm still crawling around and learning the nuts and bolts. I get closer every day and the time is coming. I have all of your names on a little list, and someday soon you're all going to hear from me....;-) Baseball,Baby! ballsstrikes 04:21, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

A great attitude to have, and one that will certainly serve you well when you do get the mop. And that's all I have to say now. See you around! Heimstern Läufer 06:13, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

Lazybatusu

Thanks for taking the time to review the article on Lazybatusu. I understand the criteria for deletion or removal in relation to music ensembles/bands, I just think that this particular artist should be mentioned/reinstated in Wikipedia because: -They have been working behind the scenes, as producers and performers for other great notable artists, well-known to the mainstream public (see credits in the article) -They are promoting and trying to develop a new musical genre that it's new in the United States, [nu-jazz/future-lounge] and therefore offering a service to a fast-growing electronic music community -In relation to the latter, the exposure given to underground artists in the music business is non-existent in the United States, until a major record companies decides to invest resources in huge marketing campaigns and that's mainly to live off the artist's hard work. Wikipedia is not a promotional vehicle per se, but as a collective open-source encyclopedia, should allow space for hard workers in the arts' field, especially the ones who are often working pro-bono, just with the intent of enriching their community. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.203.134.36 (talk • contribs)
