I like your user page so much

Do you mind if I copy its layout? ~ UBeR (talk) 06:06, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

I finished adapting your layout for my page. I'm still trying to find a good color scheme. I messed around a little bit with that. Now to redo my talk page... ;-) ~ UBeR (talk) 16:50, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

Articles_for_deletion/Douglas_Berger

Hello Katie

I'm writing about the deletion of this article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Douglas_Berger

I understand about need for secondary sources. The published research papers for this bio can be verified in the respective journal. For example the Science article written has its verification is here: http://www.sciencemag.org/cgi/content/summary/273/5273/318

Are not publications a secondary source that verify the Wiki Bio?, and can notability (albeit minor notability) be construed by the process of acceptance to a notable publication medium (like Science Magazine). If so, then can the article be reinstated?

Kind regards

Thank you for your kind and thorough note. I can understand your point from a Wiki policy point of view.

Some things to think about though: 1.) Many scientists quietly make valuable contributions validated by the publishing journal but not the community at large especially if the field is minor or esoteric-in these cases Wiki will miss this info. Say something is written in Nature or Science. Someone might say, "thats interesting, I wonder if I can get more info on it in Wikipedia?". Then they check Wiki and nothing is there. I think Wiki misses something in this case. You see, I am getting to the issue of what to do with "valuable information from a non-'Wiki notable' " person; I guess a policy issue for Wiki Board Members not for us.

2.) Some of the 30+ papers were letters or short articles, many others were original research articles. I dont see the point about focusing on the few that were only letters or commentaries.

3.) Searching the web, there have been a couple of third parties who have referenced some of the papers I have written in their paper- but not many, and I dont know how to find this in a general sense.

Anyway, I am touched you replied so quickly.

I also worked in ICU as an intern in medicine and surgery, wish you the best. Dberger (talk) 05:29, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

Further T(w)inkle help

I really called it Tinkle? LOL. Freudian slip perhaps. So, you are my go-to person for T(w)inkle assistance (wow, that might be censored). First, are there Welcome templates that can be placed? Second, is there a Twinkle-method for 3RR? Thanks for all your help with Tinkling. I mean Twinkling. OrangeMarlin Talk• Contributions 18:39, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

The Welding Institute

On 29 March 2008 you deleted my article on The Welding Institute citing 'blatant copyright infringement'. Please explain. I wrote the article myself based on personal knowledge and information in a book and a published artilce, both of which I acknowledged. Whilst I am very much a novice and may have made mistakes in the presentation I am completely unaware of copying any material subject to copyright.

If you agree that my article is valid, please reinstate it. It is particularly useful for those seeking the origin of the Friction Stir Welding process now in significant use by the US aerospace industry. The process was invented at The Welding Institute.

Thanks you 194.128.9.129 (talk) 12:21, 14 May 2008 (UTC) Dave McKeown

You deleted an image that had the appropriate copyright info in it

I don't appreciate that, it takes time to upload these things. The image is in public domain and I included that info in the upload. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jeffmcneill (talkcontribs) 19:10, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

Not rushing anything, I know you're busy, just letting you know that I've answered the questions in case you missed it. Thank you for coaching me by the way, you're an excellent coach so far! The DominatorTalkEdits 19:44, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

Would you like to correct a misspelling on your userpage?

Not such a big issue-but it irked me. When User:Johntex awarded you a barnstar for protecting the article for Texas Tech University from repeat vandalism, apparently someone confused the word insipid with the word incipient-resulting in the barnstar description reading "Incipid Friday Night AOL Vandalism". Just thought you'd like to know-go ahead and correct the typo at your leisure. Just thought I'd help -- 198.252.8.202TalkHistory 18:38, Tuesday May 20, 2008 (UTC)
