KRANIDI is the capital of the County of Ermionida and it lies 76 klm away from Nafplio. Its name derives from the word Koronida, while for others it derives from the word Kranaos which means rocky, rough.

Kranidi played an important role during the Greek Revolution against the Turks in 1821. During the period 1823-1824 it was the seat of the parliamentary andexecutive bodies of Hellas. Also Kranidi is the birthplace of Emmanouil Repoulis, the close collaborator and vice president of the governments of Eleftherios Venizelos.

In Kranidi you can visit many monasteries and churches. The monastery of Panagia Pantanassa, the Monastery of Agia Anna which dates back to the 13th century and it is built on α piney hill , the church of Agia Triada with the important frescoes inside it, the church of Agios Georgios and the church of Agios Ioannis Prodromos which is the cathedral of Kranidi. The neoclassic buildings along with the mansions add local colour to Kranidi and the local architecture attracts the interest of the visitors as well as the architects.

The visitor can also admire the three windmills and the traditional oil press with the big stones.
