Kramer in English, a surname, is commonly pronounced ['kɹeɪ.mə(ɹ)], and is from the German surname Krämer, pronounced [ˈkʁɛː.mɐ] or [ˈkʁeː.mɐ].

The name derived from the old German appellation krâmer for the profession of travelling merchants in the Late Middle Ages, the meaning later changed to "merchants trading with different, rather small things".
