Krøkebærsletta

Krøkebærsletta was a Nazi concentration camp near the town of Tromsø in Norway, in use from November of 1942 to the end of the occupation of Norway by Nazi Germany in 1945. The camp was built as a replacement for Sydspissen concentration camp, across the sound. It was primarily a transit camp for prisoners on their way to Falstad concentration camp, Grini or camps in Germany. It is estimated that at least 2000 male prisoners passed through the camp. Female prisoners were usually detained in local prisons or jails.
