The station went on the air as KQDI-FM on 1985-04-01. On 1985-09-01, the station changed it's call sign to KOOZ-FM. On 1989-01-01 to the current KQDI-FM.[2]

In June 2006, KQDI-FM was acquired by Cherry Creek Radio from Fisher Radio Regional Group as part of a 24 station deal with a total reported sale price of $33.3 million.[3]
