[edit] wikEd

The wikEdlogo

Hi, I have seen that you are using the Cacycle editor extension. This program is no longer actively maintained in favor of its much more powerful successor wikEd.

wikEd has all the functionality of the old editor plus: • syntax highlighting • nifty image buttons • more fixing buttons • paste formatted text from Word or web pages • convert the formatted text into wikicode • adjust the font size • and much, much more.

Switching to wikEd is easy, check the detailed installation description on its project homepage. Often it is as simple as changing every occurrence of editor.js into wikEd.js on your User:YourUsername/monobook.js page.

[edit] Thanks for the edits

Though I guess we've not been formally introduced, I'm sure we know each other (considering the fact that you came for the IOI before departing). You seem to have taken particular interest in editing and improving pages related to academic institutes, summer camps, and scholarships (Chennai Mathematical Institute, IMOTC, and now KVPY). Thanks for the prompt looking up and editing of the pages, as also for putting up pics of CMI (which our own CMI people seemed reluctant to do).

By the way ,how did you come across the KVPY page so quickly?

Vipul 01:39, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

Hi Vipul. You're welcome. Yes, I remember seeing you at CMI. I have also read some of your blogs and blog comments. Having been to the KVPY camp and IOITC, I'm interested in them, and the others are closely related. I came across the KVPY page from your user page. --Kprateek88(Talk | Contribs) 06:31, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] License tagging for Image:The International School Bangalore logo.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:The International School Bangalore logo.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 14:13, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

Hmmm... wonder how I forgot to put a tag when I uploaded it. --Kprateek88(Talk | Contribs) 15:37, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] = Sydney Coach Terminal, Links

I noticed that you deleted some of the links in the page that I created, thats fine, but I relinked Maps, booklets, brochures and ports. I do believe that they are relevant, especially if it is tourist information. User:Mindys12345

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Cranes Software logo.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Cranes Software logo.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Deskana (talk) 11:08, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Userbox "24 hour time"

Hi, I hope you don't mind that I edited the userbox a bit. The italics made the numbers lean against the side of the ID box, while there was plenty of space on their left side. Now the numbers are nicely centred in the ID box. Best regards, Teemu Leisti (talk) 02:51, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

I tweaked it a bit more... if you don't like it, just revert it, and I can make a version of my own. Teemu Leisti (talk) 08:50, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:Cranes Software logo.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Cranes Software logo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:04, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
