Kpelle language is spoken by the Kpelle people.
The language is part of the Mande family of languages.
ISO 639 defines it as macrolanguage, with the more specific ones:
- Guinea Kpelle [gkp] (also known as Guerze in French), spoken by some 300,000 [1]
- Liberia Kpelle [xpe] ,spoken by some 480,000 [2]
This language is currently taught in schools in Liberia.
