[edit] NOT ONLY STUDENTS EXCHANGE PROGRAMME
Hello! I would like to start students exchange programme with some European schools. I teach English classes of Year 5 and 6 in a primary school in Poland. My pupils are 11-12 years old. Besides the exchange, we can work on a cultural project as well as the project based on literature for teenagers. It would be beneficial for all the students to meet together and discuss peculiarities of their cultures, customs and traditions during a -week -stay in the country of a partner school.
Another suggestion is to read some British novels and two novels of their native literature about teenagers to build a picture of teenage world now and then and to reflect on their essence as European teenagers and future European citizens. Once a year we would like to have a week-long-visit in the country of our partner school and to host a partner school's students too.
Short description:
In the cultural project we suggest the exchange of cultural peculiarities, ideas how to protect cultural heritage to keep it alive. Besides presentations and articles about daily lives, schools, sports, national holidays, the children will focus on art, national clothes, handicrafts which reflects the culture.
In the project based on literature about teenagers, we would like to make the students discover how the teenagers'social status developed through time, what their rights were/are, what their idea of the world was/is, what they have to fight for as European citizens, what the Charter of Children's Rights is about, what their social status as teenagers in modern Europe is about and, finally, what the notion of being a European citizen nowadays and in the past includes.
