Kouthanallur is a city and a municipality in Thiruvarur district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.

As of 2001 India census[1], Kouthanallur had a population of 22,986. Males constitute 47% of the population and females 53%. Kouthanallur has an average literacy rate of 74%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 78%, and female literacy is 69%. In Kouthanallur, 13% of the population is under 6 years of age.
