Kourouta or Kuruta (Greek, Modern: Κουρούτα, Ancient/Katharevousa: -s), older forms or rarely Kouroutas and Kurutas is a village located 5 km west of Amaliada and is part of that community and the municipality. Kourouta is accessed with a road to Amaliada and is the westernmost and has a small road linking to near Marathia. GR-9/E55 is 2 km east along with a small aqueduct. Kourouta is situated to the Ionian Sea to its west and has sandy coastline in which it is famous for its beaches. Hotels including "Akti Kourouta" and more are in Kourouta. Kourouta also has campground named Camping Kourouta [1], the campground is owned by the municipality of Amaliada. Kourouta also features a panorama of the northwestern part of the small peninsula, the Chlemoutsi castle and the southern portion of the island of Zante. Kourouta is located about 80 km SW of Patras, about 20 km NW of Pyrgos, NW of the Pyrgos Bypass and about 30 km SE of Kyllini.

Residential buildings are mainly within the Ionian Sea. Forests are situated to the north and south and sporadically elsewhere. Agriculture lands which mainly consists of groves dominate the rest of Kourouta.

The road was paved in the mid to late-20th century which brought tourism to the area. In the 2000s, a new traffic light was installed along with intersection repairs at the junction with the new highway.
