Koufonisi, Crete

Koufonisi is a today uninhabited Greek island, which is located four kilometres south of the coast of Crete in the east of the Mediterranean Sea. The island is roughly six kilometres long and 5.5 kilometres across. It has an entire surface area of 5.25 kmĀ². There are still ruins of theatres and other buildings of the Roman era. Aside from that Koufonisi does not have too many sites, expect for its own beautiful baths. During the summer, the island is visited by tour boats from the 18 kilometre Cretan port of Makrigialos.
