Koudougou is a town in the province of Boulkiemdé, 75 kilometres (47 mi) west of Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso. It is mainly inhabited by Mossi, with approx. 44,000 inhabitants. It is situated at the only railway line of the country and harbours some industries, like a factory for a soap factory, shea butter, a cotton factory and various textile factories.
