Kotys

Kotys or Cotys (name in Greek: ο Κότυς) is a name of ancient Persian origins and refers to the following:
- A Thracian goddess, see Paleo-Balkanic mythology
- Cotys I, who became a King of Thrace. Cotys was of Persian descent. His family was originally a vassal to the Kings of the Persian Empire. There were various Kings called Cotys from Thrace, who descended from Cotys I and they include Cotys VI, Cotys VII and Cotys VIII
- Cotys IX, son to Cotys VIII and Roman Client King of Lesser Armenia
- Tiberius Julius Cotys I, second grandson to Cotys VIII and Roman Client King of the Bosporan Kingdom
- Tiberius Julius Cotys II, Roman Client King of the Bosporan Kingdom, who lived in the 2nd century. His reign was in the reign of Roman Emperor Hadrian. Tiberius Julius Cotys II was a direct descendant of Tiberius Julius Cotys I
- Tiberius Julius Cotys III, Roman Client King of the Bosporan Kingdom and a direct descendant of Tiberius Julius Cotys II, who lived in the 3rd century. He lived and his reign was in the lifetime of Roman Emperor Alexander Severus
