Kottur is a Gramapanchayath in Kozhikode district, Kerala, India. Kootalida is the main town in Kottur Gramapanchayath. Kottalida is around 33 km from Calicut city, and regular bus service is available from Calicut, Balussery, Perambra etc. Kottur is surronded with many mountains like Thurutha mala,Chengodu mala, Vazhora and Vallora. This is the birth place of famous malayalam poet Late Mr N N Kakkad. There are many famous temples in this panchayath-Lakshmi narayana temple,Avitanallur,Thrikkuttissery Mahadeva kshethram,Chundali shiva kshethram, hundakkatt Shiva skhethram, Vakayadu kotta, kottur Maha vishnu kshethram etc.
The main educational institutions are Govt.higher secondary school Avitanallur, Naduvannur higher secondary school, GUPS thrikkuttissery, ALPS Avitanallur, Poonath Nellissery UPS, Koottoor and Moolad schools. Private instituitions like Prathibha,Maharajas,Teresa etc play a role in parallel education.
Volley ball is the craze of Koottalida youth. Frequent tournaments and matches are held.
