Kottoor is a very old chapel of St.Peter's and St.Paul's Syrian Orthodox Church in Kolenchery, India. Though the date of establishment is unknown, it is commonly believed that it has a history of more than 1,500 years.
Many families are also identified with this name "Kottoor". The base of those families are connected with this chapel and the region. Tradition says that the chapel was establised by the first christian convert of Kottoor family.
Kottoor Kulangattil family, a branch of ancient Kottoor family still exists around Kolechery region.
