Kotli Sattian Tehsil

Kotli Sattian is a tehsil (subdivision) of Rawalpindi District in the Punjab province of Pakistan. Its name is derived from the mountain town of Kotli and the Satti tribe. Main tribes of the area include the Dhanyal.

In the past there was a bungalow of a Gakhar chief. The house was called Kotli and afterwards the town became known as Kotli, too.

Kotli Sattian was earlier a part of Kahuta Tehsil and Murree Tehsil but now is a separate tehsil. Its located at 50km distance from Islamabad.

In the village of Kamra Sharif there is a saint's tomb known as Hob-e-Ali Almaroof Sian Tika Sarkar Qadri. Another tomb of a famous saint Syed Sadiq Shah Khad Sharif is located near Kahuti Bazar.
