Kotla Arab Ali Khan

Kotla Arab Ali Khan is town and Union Council of Kharian tehsil located in the Gujrat District of Pakistan, Pakistan[1]. The town is located 35km away from the district capital Gujrat and 14km away from the town of Bhimber, Azad Kashmir. The whole area is very beautiful - the foothills of Himalayas.

Kotal was a small village but it expanded after the construction of Bhimbar road, and Kotal has now become a small town with a lot of commercial actitivety.

Kotla Arab Ali Khan consists of 3 areas, these are

  • Kotla Mandi
  • Paharay
  • Purana Kotla

The local enmities among different families and clans have put a very bad impact on the overall social pictures of place. Most of the adlts are either un-employed or they are working in Western countries as labourers or taxi-drivers. This whole area needs education and proper managemen.

The history of Kotla begins with mainly old Hindu civilization and the legends of the Hindu mythology. Rajput Dogra was the first who ruled this area from Jammu. After his death there were several Rajas who ruled this area. One of them was Kotla who built a "Kotla" which is a fort or walled city. Kotla married with Rani "Gujjars" a semi-nomadic "Gujjar" people living along the hill slopes of Kotla. In those days there were two sects of people Gujar and Malik-Awan living near Kotla.
