Kothanalloor is a village located in Kottayam district of Kerala, India. It is situated on the Kottayam-Ernakulam (Cochin) highway and is 21 kilometres from Kottayam and 53 kilometres from Ernakulam. The nearest railway station is at Kuruppanthara, which is a small station meant for passenger and ordinary trains.

Hinduism and Christianity are the main religions in Kothanalloor. The main places of worship are Devi Temple (Vana Durga Devi) [1] and St's. Gervasis & Prothasis Roman Catholic Syrian Church [2].

Emmanuel's H.S.S. Kothanalloor had its seminal form in the Mudappa vernacular school that was started in 1919. It has over 2500 students and employs more than 80 personnel.
