Kotauratla or Kota Uratla is a village and a Mandal in Visakhapatnam district in the state of Andhra Pradesh in India.[1]

Kota Uratla is located at 17.35N 82.41E.[2] It has an average elevation of 30 meters (101 feet).

Kotauratla has been a famous village since the times of freedom struggle..it is one of the biggest mandals in Visakhapatnam. It is the Taluka headquarters for surrounding 72 villages. Kotauratla is one of the best examples of the religious tolerance. There are several temples in the village, among them Uma maheswaralayam,kodanda ramalayam were very famous. The Kodandaramalayam has a history of more than five centuries. In 1998 it was developed by local leaders like Mr.P.V.Surya Rao and Datla Suryanarayana Raju etc. Along with them people here have a lot faith on their local village goddess named Nukalamma. There is a river flowing through this village named Varaha. Here the people move very friendly with each other. One can never found a small religious feeling in any one of the citizens. Festivals will be celebrated together. It will be a great pleasure to watch muslims also celebrating diwali and sankranti along with Hindus in a grand manner. Ganesh chaturdhi, Ramzan,Diwali ,Christmas and Sankranti are the major festivals celebrated here. The people here still values for the traditions and customs. It also considered as one of the good tourist places in Andhrapradesh with unusual hills with thick trees all over the village including the river. In the months between October and January there will be a huge flow of tourists visiting this village to enjoy its beauty. Congress and Telugudesam parties are the leading parties in the village. Although the MLA and MP belongs to telugudesam party , congress plays a key role here due to the heredity of the local kshatriya people such as Mr. Krishna murthi Raju former MLA, Datla Suryanarayana Raju etc. There is no proper unity among telugu desam party leaders yet Mr.P.V.Surya Rao playing a key role in the victories of TDP. Village welfare activities are being organized under the organizing of Mr.Dasari Venkata Rao with the help of P.V.Surya Rao, Surya narayana Raju,Nimmala surya Rao and other leaders.Several leaders such as Indira gandhi,Rajeev gandhi, NTR, Chandra babu naidu etc have been visited this place. Rural Banking sector is being good at this plce. Surya Rao being a bank manager with an experience over 32 years helped a lot in developing this village along with Kshatriya people. Former minister Chintakayala Ayyanna patrudu also played an important role in the development of this village. This mandal has a good reputation for the proper implementation of government policies. The crime rate also considered to be very low here.

Literacy rate is above 65% despite it being a remote village. Agriculture is the main occupation of this village. Suger cane, Paddy, maize,. Along with small scale industries such as wax etc,there are sugar,power, cement and biotech related industries in and around of this village. There were more than 6 IITans in this village. More than thousand professional came from this village for the last couple of years, this shows the education of the village. Yet the buiseness development in this village is considered to be poor. The village also has its significance in sports: there were several players who represented district and state level in various sports. In athletics and co-co games there were state level players from the village. Kiran from this village represented India'A team at under 19level. There are students who have done their MBA and MS from abroad in this village.
