Kostas Skandalidis

Kostas Skandalidis (Greek: Κώστας Σκανδαλίδης) (born November 11, 1953 in Kos) is a Greek politician and member of the Greek Parliament for the Panhellenic Socialist Movement for the Athens A constituency.
He has been elected as an MP for PASOK in all the general elections since 1989. He was elected secretary of the Central Committee of PASOK three times between October 11, 1995 and October 22, 2001.
He was candidate for Mayor of Athens in the local elections of 2006, in which he received 28.84% and his platform became the major opposition.
After the legislative elections of 2007, in which PASOK was defeated, Skandalidis announced his candidacy for the leadership of the party. In the leadership election, held on November 11, 2007, he placed third with 5.74% of the vote, behind incumbent party leader George Papandreou and Evangelos Venizelos.[1]
He has held the following government posts:
- Minister for the Aegean and Island Policy (October 13, 1993 - July 8, 1994)
- Minister of Interior (July 8, 1994 - September 15, 1995)
- Minister for the Interior and Public Order (October 24, 2001 - March 10, 2004)
