Hey thanks for being civil in your reply at Religion. I just didn't think through enough before I acted, and the descriptions I left of the edits (e.g. POV garbage) weren't right. You are by no means alone in having some amount of difficulty in talking to this guy. I am of the opinion that he is a good editor (if curious and often POV), but some have quite different opinions, calling him an anti-semite, among other things. Indeed an entire debate over creating a hate speech policy was inspired by a comment he made. Some people say alot of things tho, and I myself have been called a racist, a far right winger etc... on here. If you don't feel comfortable discussing/editing w him, avoid him, or go thru me, or complain to the proper authorities or whatnot. He is a bit high strung, but he does a really good job of citing and verifying, which I respect to no end. Cheers, Sam [Spade] 22:09, 21 Jul 2004 (UTC)

BTW, please don't ever modify a comment once-made on my Talk page; just reply to your own comment noting what you wanted to say/change. Modifying a comment just leads to confusion, especially if I had already seen an earlier version of it. :p

I don't accept such an artificial limitation, this is wiki, not stone. I edit my comments as I will, but that said, this is your talk page however, so you can edit it as you will :). If there is a problem w me editing my statements, I just won't edit on your talk page, or I will place a link to my statements on my talk page, which I will of course edit freely (as I do all my statements). I'm very much in the anti-prior-comment-editing camp, as I feel it destroys the threaded, chronological basis of Talk statements and responses. So yes — in the case of my talk page, refrain from this. (I'll post a warning to this effect at the top.) I can't tell you what to do elsewhere obviously, but I will cease discussion with anyone who I find doing this in an ongoing Talk debate. (Just warning you.) ;) - Korpios 18:22, 22 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Wikipedia has this funny way of saving archives of everything, so someone who happens to be fairly new can go back and find all sorts of interesting stuff. ;) There's also an excellent argument against such practice written by a particular user that, unfortunately, I'm having difficulty finding at the moment. :p - Korpios 18:47, 22 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Yes, I've heard the objection before, but its not policy by any stretch. Its actually strongy reccomended to remove personal attacks or other gratuitous rudeness, even from the comments of others. On the other hand if I edited in bad faith, substantially changing meanings and so forth, that would prob. be some kind of trolling. Anyhow I admit to being curious how long it will take before you decide to stop talking to me, as I go back and tinker w stuff I said continuously. I see it as a good thing, I mean heck, we have the history logs and all. Why else even have wiki, if we can't improve it, change links, etc...? Sam [Spade] 19:55, 22 Jul 2004 (UTC)

I never implied it was policy, although I certainly wish it was! I'm fine with a removing-personal-attacks exemption so long as it's done in a manner that makes it clear something was removed. I feel I have much less of a tolerance as to what amounts to "substantial" than you do; a good rule of thumb, IMHO, is to shy away from any post-edits that couldn't be marked as "minor" (i.e., spelling, grammar, and rearranging sections).
As far as when I'd mentally "blacklist" you? I'd have to catch you altering a past post enough as to disrupt my understanding of the given thread, and require me to go through History to figure out what the hell was going on. :p One should never have to go through History to understand an ongoing Talk discussion.

Why? I do it everytime. I find alot of interesting stuff that way. People post stuff, and then regreting it, delete it. Happens on my talk page at least once a month. Anyhow I completely, utterly, undeniably disagree w you fundamentally. Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 2000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:

To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "{{DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual}}" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:

Option 1
I agree to [[Wikipedia:Multi-licensing|multi-license]] all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
{{DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual}}

OR

Option 2
I agree to [[Wikipedia:Multi-licensing|multi-license]] all my contributions to any [[U.S. state]], county, or city article as described below:

Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "{{DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual}}" with "{{MultiLicensePD}}". I noticed you have listed yourself in Category:Atheist Wikipedians. That said, you will probably be interested in my suggested featured article for December 25th: Omnipotence paradox.
