[edit] User:Y on WP:AN
Hi Koreanjason,
I didn't want to pile on in public, so I thought I'd leave a note for you here. I'm not an admin, I don't know User:Y, and I think calling someone a racist is a low blow (it's happened to me, and it's insulting). So I hope you'll take this as the opinion of someone who doesn't "support the cabal", so to speak.
It's clear to pretty much everyone involved in that thread that User:Y wasn't calling User:Be best as racist; he was making a somewhat sarcastic, somewhat tongue-in-cheek remark that you misinterpreted. Instead of assuming that all the admins are closing ranks around one of their own, please consider the possibility, at least, that you simply misread his intentions, and ask yourself, is the likelihood that you're right about this high enough that it's worth the 8 hours of arguement that you've put into it? Doesn't it seem likely that if this was really racist, someone would have come along to agree with you by now?
My advice is to let it drop, and go back to editing. It's stressing you out, it's causing some people to be more rude to you than you deserve, and it really is a mountain out of a molehill.
thanks for listening. --barneca (talk) 18:23, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
- (reply to your comment on my talk page) OK, But just so you know, as an outside observer, I don't see Y accusing Be best of racism. I'm not suggesting you drop it because you're unpopular, or likely to get blocked, or something. I'm suggesting you drop it because you should consider the possiblity that you've misinterpreted Y's remarks, and that you could, in fact, be wrong about this.
- Other people's rudeness is, indeed, their problem, but I think it's fueled by their frustration that you won't accept that possibility.
- Well, I've said my piece, I'll leave you to whatever you think is right. Here's hoping you can get back to enjoying editing sometime soon. --barneca (talk) 18:39, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
