[edit] Learn About Them!
The band is Jonathan Davis (vocals, bagpipes), Munky and Head (guitar), Fieldy (bass) and David Silveria (drums) in the beginning. These guys have been a huge part of the mainstream rock world ever since they dropped the bomb with their 1994 self-titled debut album, which contains such slabs of pure heaviness as "Blind," "Ball Tongue" and "Faget," as well as the bagpipes of "Shoots and Ladders." Their 1996 album, Life is Peachy, further expanded on the exploration of detuned guitars, grooving rhythms and hip-hop beats. Cuts like "Twist," "A.D.I.D.A.S.," "Chi" and "Ass Itch" signify Korn's evolution of heavy. By 1998, nu-metal was huge, and Korn was to thank. So, they aptly titled their 1998 album Follow the Leader as a reminder of their influence on the scene. "Freak on a Leash" brought Korn to the front of the new music revolution, while "Justin," "Dead Bodies Everywhere" and "Children of the Korn" followed. By 1999, Korn was eager to try something new, and instead opted for an alternative-metal sound for Issues. This album took a little longer to catch on, but "Falling Away From Me" was an instant success, and is an accurate depiction of the emotions that neglected or abused children feel today.
It was 3 years before any new musical output came out of the Korn world, but the members were far from stationary. Bassist Fieldy had taken the time to write a solo record, and singer Jonathan Davis had written the soundtrack for the Queen of the Damned movie. But in 2002, Korn delivered with their most experimental record thus far, Untouchables, which contains cuts like the softer "Hollow Life" and the more in-your-face "Here To Stay." The very next year, Korn gave up Take a Look in the Mirror, which was a return-to-form album with cuts like "Right now," "Everything I've Known" and "Y'All Want a Single?"
In 2005, Korn lost their first member, guitarist Head, who left to become a Christian. But even this didn't slow the group down, who carried on as a 4-piece for 2005's See You on the Other Side. Though it was a more radio-friendly venture, "Twisted Transistor" and "Coming Undone" helped bring Korn back to the mainstream heights that they had enjoyed back in 1998. For live shows, Korn brought in some talented musicians to help them out, which include Billy Goat keyboardist Zac Baird, Mr. Stork guitarist Shane Gibson, and 2nd percussionist Michael Jochum.
By 2007, Korn had lost another member, drummer David Silveria, who claimed that he needed to take a break from the band and has since officially departed. This didn't stop the band, however, from taking perhaps their biggest risk yet and performing a medly of their hits live on MTV Unplugged: Korn. For their untitled 2007 album, Korn raised the stakes once more by bringing in Frank Zappa drummer Terry Bozzio, Bad religion skinsman Brooks Wackerman, and even Jonathan Davis himself on drums. The result was Korn's most experimental record to date. With the hits "Evolution" and "Hold On," Korn have proved that they are still on top of their game despite an ever-changing membership.
And Now in 2008 on Janruary 16th, Munky leaves the Bitch We Got A Problem Tour due to his father's sudden illness. He will most likley return after the tour. Shane Gibson is taking his place until then and Rob patterson is taking Shanes place. However, to the fans surprise, Munky returned earlier that month.
