It operates large nuclear and hydroelectric plants in South Korea, which are responsible for about 40% of the country's electric power supply. It was formally established in 2001 as part of a general restructuring at KEPCO,[1] although KEPCO had opened its first nuclear plant at Kori in Busan in 1978.
The company also operates internationally, with offices in Tokyo, New York, Atlanta, and Paris. The current CEO is Jong-Shin Kim. As of 2007, it had a total of 7,815 employees. [2]
