[edit] Los Angeles
Although there were efforts to expand Korea Campus Crusade for Christ, Los Angeles, in the 80's and 90's, it was not until 1996 when Rev. Dong Whan Kim revitalized the organization and propelled it into one of the largest interdenominational Korean mission organizations in Southern California.
One of its prime ministries is the campus ministry that covers some of the largest college campuses in southern and northern California, including the University of Southern California, University of California-Los Angeles, University of California-Irvine, University of California-Riverside, University of California-Berkeley, California State University-Long Beach, California State University-Northridge, Cal Tech, University of California-Santa Barbara and others.
Other ministries include summer overseas mission trips where members are encouraged to participate in overseas missions to countries like Thailand, Japan, Asia Minor, Cambodia, East Asia, Mongolia, Central Asia, Laos, and Hawaii for interstate mission. Activities during the mission may include cross-cultural events, teaching English to foreigners, showing films and performing Tae-Kwon-Do demonstrations. Since 1997, Korea Campus Crusade for Christ, Los Angeles, has been conducting annual summer mission trips that now include upwards of 500 college students participating in the ministry as short-term missionaries.
From September to June of every year, Korea Campus Crusade for Christ, Los Angeles is involved with ministries such as E-Crusade, Vision Conferences, Sports Day, Mission Rally, as well as regular chapel meetings by individual campuses that caters to the spiritual needs of college student across southern and northern California. Individual campuses are also divided into small groups headed by a small group leader known as a "soon-jang", or spiritual discipler, who presides over the meetings and cares for its members. Small group meetings are an integral part of its ministry where each member is encouraged to interact on a one-to-one basis with their group members and the Soonjang to develop a bond that may well go beyond the college years.
