F. Korbel Brothers, Inc. is a winery based in Sonoma County, California. Established in 1882, Korbel primarily manufactures sparkling wine and sells the largest volume of premium traditional method sparkling wine in the United States.[citation needed] It uses the semi-generic term Champagne on its labels as permitted by U.S. law. Most other quality US sparkling wine producers no longer use semi-generic labeling but identify their wines "sparkling wine" and indicate the location where their grapes are produced. Korbel also produces small quantities of brandy and still wines. Brown-Forman owns a large percentage of F. Korbel Brothers[citation needed] and distributes Korbel's sparkling wines domestically and internationally. Brown-Forman reportedly also distributes its still wines, yet many seem to only be available direct from the winery.[citation needed]
