Kopps

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kopps is a 2003 Swedish film directed by Josef Fares. The name itself is a pun on the English word "Cops"

The film is a comedy about Swedish police, starring Fares Fares, Torkel Petersson, Sissela Kyle, Göran Ragnerstam and Eva Röse.

While the movie itself is relatively unknown in the United States, a short clip from it featuring Benny, sometimes titled Benny the Supercop, has appeared frequently on message boards as an animated gif. Within the clip, Benny subdues a series of criminals by placing his gun in his pants and firing it by thrusting his crotch, taking down the last criminal by kicking the gun into the fleeing man's head.

[edit] Plot

The film concerns the police force of a small fictional Swedish village, Högboträsk. The village is so peaceful that crime has become nonexistent. The police spend their shifts drinking coffee, eating hot dogs and chasing down runaway cows. This is all well and good for the village's own police, but the police management board wants to discontinue the local police force for lack of crime. This would mean the loss of income for the policemen, so they begin to stage crimes in order to preserve their jobs.
