Kopčany is a village in western Slovakia, close to the borders with the Czech Republic.

In historical records Kopčany was first mentioned in 1392. However, the village is much older. In the 9th century, Kopčany was part of the agglomeration of Mikulčice, an important center and plausibly the capital of Great Moravia. Kopčany is also the site of the only still standing building safely identified as Great Moravian, the St. Margaret's Church in Kopčany.[1]

The municipality lies at an altitude of 160 metres and covers an area of 21.829km².[2] It is part of the Skalica District in the Trnava Region.
