Konteb

Konteb is one of the 77 woredas in the Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples' Region of Ethiopia. Part of the Hadiya Zone, Konteb is bordered on the south by Soro, on the west by the Omo River which separates it from the Yem special woreda, on the north by the Hadiya Zone, and on the east by Limo. Towns in Konteb include Kose, Morsito and Sera.
This woreda covers part of the homeland of the Hadiya people.
Based on figures published by the Central Statistical Agency in 2005, this woreda has an estimated total population of 408,422, of whom 204,566 were males and 203,856 were females; 15,844 or 3.88% of its population are urban dwellers, which is less than the Zone average of 8.1%. With an estimated area of 1,225.00 square kilometers, Konteb has an estimated population density of 333.4 people per square kilometer, which is less than the Zone average of 378.7.[1]
