Konrad von Finckenstein

Konrad W. von Finckenstein, QC (b. April 4, 1945 in Germany) is the current Chairman of the Canadian Radio-television Telecommunications Commission, since January 25, 2007. His term is scheduled to end on January 24, 2012. Finckenstein had previously served as Justice of the Federal Court since 2003. Holding this judicial post, he did rule that, in Canada, uploading music tracks over the internet is not in itself a breach of copyright law. Before that, he had been the head of The Competition Bureau of Canada since 1997.
He received a Bachelor of Arts (with Honours) from Carleton University in 1967[1], and a Bachelor of Laws from Queen’s University.
