According to the 2001 census, Konini has a population of 3522.
Konini is a quiet suburb in the West of Auckland. It is enclosed in lush bush at the western ends and tranquil suburban streets to the east. The Primary school is a prominent landmark, along with Konini road itself; a long bending street that moves from the suburb of Glen Eden to the idyllic setting of the Waitakere Ranges and native rain forest.
The immediate area has been informally dubbed “T-town” by resident youths. The ‘T’ relating to both the luscious trees that enclose the locality and also the nearby suburb Titirangi with which Konini is associated by postal code. Such youths are offered a tranquil environment for sporting their extreme leisure activities. In particular, the large concrete water reservoir, located on Konini Road, is a popular leisure spot.
