Kondrovo

Kondrovo (Russian: Кондрово) is a town in Kaluga Oblast, Russia, located on the Shanya River, a tributary of the Ugra (in Oka's drainage area, some 40 km northwest of Kaluga. Population: 16,900 (2005 est.); 17,177 (2002 Census)

Kondrovo is first mentioned in 1613. In 1790 a paper mill was built in the village, and by the end of the 19th century it was famous for its high quality paper. It was granted town status in 1938.

The towns main industry is still the paper mill KBK - Kodrovskaya Bumazhnaya Kompaniya (russisk: Кодровская бумажная компания - КБК), which today produces parchment, notebooks, toiletpaper and female hygiene articles.
