Kombinat

Kombinat was the east german term for industrial business groups or conglomerates in the former German Democratic Republic and other socialist countries. They were publicly owned an consisted of several so called Volkseigene Betriebe ("People-owned enterprises"). Well known examples were VEB Kombinat Robotron, East Germany's biggest electronics manufacturer and Industrieverband Fahrzeugbau a manufacturer of vehicles.
