Komal is an ancient and traditional Indian name, most commonly taken to mean 'delicate' or 'gentle'. It is a popular female name as it contains many of the qualities Indian women so admire. However, its meaning and qualities remain typically feminine. Pureness, innocence, beauty, sweetness of nature and gentleness are a few of those qualities. The name Komal is also used in some parts of India to name a flower. The English counterpart of this flower is the Lily of the Valley. Komal is now more often used in northern or western parts of India, the name taken by remmenants of the Aryans. The name was brought over from Persia and is a popular Persian name also. Komal is a very rare name. Only a few people have that name in the world except India.
